At the end of the 19th century, when Ericsson founder Ericsson fought for a contract for the Stockholm telephone business, he emphasized in particular that telephone technology fulfilled the basic human needs. His competitors think the phone is a luxury. Ericsson eventually won the deal. Today’s Ericsson is still at the forefront of the industry: with 30% of the world’s mobile systems, it is the only provider that supports all second- and third-generation mobile communication standards; as of November this year, 22 of the world’s 3G carriers 17 selected Ericsson to provide third-generation communications equipment.
