气割是在金属划线和号料以后进行的。当用样板自动(机械)切割时,常省去划线和号料的工序。对于低碳钢来说,气割是十分有效和方便的。切割的金属愈厚,气割的技术经济指标就愈高。当切割6公厘以下的钢板时,表面光洁度较差;厚度超过6公厘的曲线切割和25公厘的直线切割,气割就大大地优于机械加工了。我们除了用气割切割各种曲线轮廓外,当切割厚度为14公厘以上的钢板时,由于剪板机能力小,均用气割进行切割。
