在一般的以恒速进给的磨削过程中,磨削力是随着工件材质、硬度、磨削参数和砂轮的切削能力等因素的变化而变化的,因而影响了生产率和工件质量的提高.该机床采用控制力(恒压力)磨削(见图).在磨削过程中,按照工件和砂轮的情况,自动变换进给速度.工件始终以一个恒力压向砂轮.在刚开始磨削时,由于砂轮锋利、磨削区小,而进给速度快.砂轮充分发挥切削能力,得到高的生产率.而在形成正确形状、砂轮变得稍钝时,单位面积上的压力减小,进给速度降低,有利于获得正确的几何形状和良好的表面光洁度.这样,初期效率高而不烧伤,后期质量好,实现了较为理想的磨削过程.
