Do you believe it? The expression of a person’s emotional ideas is not necessarily written on paper. Perhaps your first reaction is: Of course, computers are beginning a revolution with paper. But I’m not referring to the mechanical typing of characters with my fingers. Nowadays, the ancient, traditional tattoo culture has evolved into the most eye-catching spot in today’s coolest fashion and avant-garde. In the Dictionary of Modern Chinese, written by the Chinese Academy of Sciences Institute of Language, the tattoo is released as “painted or stained in color with patterns or figures on the human body.” From the standpoint of a civilized person, this mixture of primitive art and primitive witchcraft systematically stabbing the skin to make it inflamed and discolored reveals the complex connotations in the history of human spiritual phenomenology and human sentiment. Obviously, even those modern tattoos who appear to have no living faith and who are completely entertained are still exerting a strong belief through tattooing, though sometimes we may call this belief “the pursuit of sensual stimulation” . Otherwise, it is hard to imagine what motivates a person to endure great pain in exchange for the beauty of tattoos. There may be tattoos for tattoos that can be tattooed simply for self-torture, which can be classified as cynical, but you can not deny that it is a living belief. As a symbol directly engraved on the body, tattoos communicate the human spirit and flesh.
