For some people, shopping is something to suffer rather than celebrate. Many Japanese, on the other hand, seem to see shopping as a source of happiness or a hobby, which practically turns popular shops into some of the coolest places
Take UT Store Harajuku as an example. Uniqlo’s concept store is full of shirts, and only shirts – lots of them, and with a touch-screen menu to find them in their plastic containers. Through the vending-machine[自动售货机]-style
purchasing system, you can pick and choose T-shirts much like chocolate bars or bags of chips. It is a future convenience store for T-shirts. On a regular day, the store is brimming[注满] with 500 T-shirt styles, so anyone will be able to buy the perfect T-shirt to suit his/her unique taste.
It is true that “a T-shirt is more than just a T-shirt. It’s an expression of who you are.”
