Objective To observe the clinical effect of BCG polysaccharide nucleic acid on allergic rhinitis with asthma. Methods A total of 98 patients with allergic rhinitis and asthma who were treated in otolaryngology department of Jilin Central Hospital from the beginning of 2001 to the beginning of 2009 were randomly divided into treatment group 1, treatment group 2 and control group. All three groups were given the same basic treatment of allergic asthma, The treatment group 1 was injected intramuscularly with BCG polysaccharide and nucleic acid (BCG-PSN) for 3 months. The treatment group 2 was given intramuscular injection of BCG-PSN for 6 months. The control group The basic treatment, not given BCG-PSN. The incidence of allergic rhinitis and asthma was observed in 3 groups within 1 year after the end of treatment, and the curative effect was judged according to the number and extent of asthma attacks. Results The clinical symptoms of allergic rhinitis and asthma in treatment group 1 and treatment group 2 were significantly improved within 0 ~ 6 months after the end of treatment, and both the markedly effective rate and the total effective rate were significantly higher than those in the control group (P <0.05 or P <0.01 ); 7 to 12 months after the end of treatment, the apparent effective rate and total effective rate of treatment group 2 were significantly higher than that of the control group (all P <0.05). BCG-PSN treatment showed no significant adverse reactions. Conclusion BCG-PSN treatment of allergic rhinitis with asthma is effective, safe and reliable, long-term efficacy and course of treatment.
