本文通过定量与定性相结合的研究方法,对比了外语学习者在同步计算机中介交流和面对面交流模态下的焦虑情况。61名大学英语学习者根据其英语水平被分为高级水平组和中低水平两组。受试在参与了面对面和计算机两种交流模态下的英语互动活动后,分别接受了有关焦虑程度的问卷调查。数据分析发现,同步计算机中介交流模态下学习者的焦虑程度显著低于其面对面交流模态。在同步计算机中介交流模态下高水平组焦虑程度明显低于其面对面模态,而中低水平组不存在此显著性差异。
This paper compares the anxiety of foreign language learners in synchronous computer-mediated communication and face-to-face communication mode through a combination of quantitative and qualitative research methods. 61 college English learners were divided into two groups according to their English proficiency: high level group and low level group. After participating in the interactive activities of English in the face-to-face and computer modes, the participants respectively took the questionnaire about the degree of anxiety. Data analysis found that learners’ anxiety in synchronous computer-mediated communication mode was significantly lower than their face-to-face communication mode. The level of anxiety in the high-level group was significantly lower than that in the face-to-face mode in the synchronous computer-mediated exchange modality, while there was no significant difference in the medium-low level group.
