I. A Brief History of Japanese Forensic Science The Japanese forensic medicine classroom was established in a medical university. The difference between the forensic science and medical education is that the forensic science is based on legal needs. Japan’s old constitution, the old criminal law, the old civil law, the old criminal procedural law, and the old civil procedure law were formulated by politicians. The initial period of Japanese law was influenced by the civil law, especially German law. The laws and regulations of the Criminal Law and the Criminal Procedure Law enacted in 1880 are based on German laws. Therefore, Japanese forensic medicine is originated from German forensic medicine. In 1890, the Tokyo Imperial Dafa Medical School was founded by Prof. Katsushika Kaku, who returned from studying abroad in Germany. In 1902, the Kyoto Imperial College of Faculty was founded by Ryugu Matsuoka, who returned from Germany to study abroad. In 1906, the Kyushu Imperial College of Forensic Sciences was established by Masao Takayama. Established at the same time as Northeast, Hokkaido, Nagoya, Osaka, etc.
