There once lived a brave3 knight who likes saving princesses4. One day he rode by a tower with a princess inside and a horrible5 dragon nearby. The knight ran to the dragon and drove him off. He got through the tower door and found the princess.
从前有一个勇敢的骑士，他热衷于营救公主。有一天，他骑马经过一座塔，里面有一位公主，塔旁有一条可怕的龙。骑士冲向龙，将它赶走了。他冲破塔门，发现了公主。
“I am here to save you！” said the brave knight.
“我是来救您的！”勇敢的骑士说。
“Save me from what？” asked the princess， looking angrily6 at her broken door.
“为什么救我？”公主生气地看着她那扇破烂的门，问道。
“The horrible dragon that I chased7 away， of course，” said the brave knight.
“当然是为了赶走那条可怕的龙。”勇敢的骑士说。
“That dragon was my pet and there’s nothing horrible about him！” she shouted， “You’d better get him back or you’ll never be a knight again.”
“那条龙是我的宠物，它一点也不可怕！”她大喊道，“你最好让它回来，否则你就永远当不了骑士了。”
The brave knight left right away to find the dragon. The dragon was already miles away because dragons flied quickly after a knight drove them away. It took the knight days to find the dragon who was resting in a cave. The brave knight was close to him as he slept.
勇敢的骑士马上离开去找那条龙。这条龙已经飞得很远了，因为骑士驱逐它之后，它飞得很快。骑士花了几天的时间才找到那只在山洞里休息的龙。勇敢的骑士在它睡觉时来到了它身边。
The dragon was having such a great dream that fire came out of his nose （dragons breathe8 fire when they are angry， but also when they are very happy）. The fire made the brave knight’s armor9 so hot， so he started removing10 it until he was wearing only the old clothes. He took his armor and horse outside before waking the dragon.
这条龙正在做一个很奇妙的梦，以至于火从它的鼻子里冒出来（龙在愤怒时会放火，但在它们非常高兴时也会喷火）。火焰使这位勇敢的骑士的盔甲变得异常灼热，于是他开始脱盔甲，脱得只剩下他的旧衣服。在叫醒这条龙之前，他将盔甲和马带到了外面。
“Excuse me，” said the knight to the dragon.

“I’ve been chased from my home by a horrible knight. Leave me alone！” said the dragon.

“That’s too bad，” said the brave knight， realizing that the dragon did not recognize11 him. “But maybe it was just a mistake12. What if the knight is not so horrible？”
“真糟糕。”勇敢的骑士说，他意识到龙没有认出他，“但是也许这只是一个误会。如果那个骑士并不是那么恐怖呢？”
“He is the most horrible knight ever！” answered the dragon. “I hope I never see him again.”

“If you take me to your home， I will talk to him for you and take care all of this，” said the knight.
骑士说：“如果你带我回家，我会帮你和他谈谈，解决所有问题。”
Before they left， the knight walked outside quietly， set his armor on the horse， and told it to ride back to the tower. Riding on top of the dragon， it did not take long for the knight to find the princess’s tower. 在他们离开之前，骑士悄悄溜到外面，将他的盔甲放在马上，并告诉马儿回到塔那儿。骑在龙身上，骑士很快就找到了公主的塔。
“I don’t see him，” said the knight. “Where is the horrible knight？”

“I don’t know，” said the dragon.

After a few short hours of looking for the knight， they saw a horse who came riding up to them， carrying armor on his back （horses are much faster without knights riding on them）.
在寻找骑士的短短几个小时之后，他们看到一匹马走了过来，背上驮着盔甲（没有骑士骑在马上，马的速度要快得多）。
“That is the horse and that is the armor of the horrible knight，” said the dragon.
龙说：“就是那匹马，还有恐怖骑士的盔甲。”
“Oh no，” said the knight， “It looks like he is gone. A knight does not usually leave his horse or take off his armor. Or what will become of his kingdom？ The people will need a new knight to fight for them.”
“哦，不好。”騎士说，“看起来他已经走了。一个骑士通常不会离开他的马或脱下他的盔甲。否则他的王国将会变成什么样呢？人们到时会需要一个新的骑士来为他们战斗。”
“You could take over for him！” said the dragon who was now so happy that fire shot out of his nose again.

So the knight put on the armor， and it fit very well. He jumped on the horse and rode it perfectly. With the pet dragon now safely home， the brave knight went inside to tell the princess the good news.
于是，骑士穿上了那套盔甲，非常合身。他跳上马，完美地骑着马。随着宠物龙安全回家后，这位勇敢的骑士走进塔中，告诉公主这个好消息。
“That’s good！” said the princess， “Now you have time to fix13 that door that you broke.”
“太好了！”公主说，“现在你有时间去修理那扇你破坏的门了。”
As the brave knight fixed the tower door， the dragon watched him and laid down for a sleep. The dragon felt much better knowing that despite14 the same armor， this new knight was not so horrible.
当勇敢的骑士修理塔门时，那条龙看了看他，然后躺下小睡起来。它知道尽管穿着同一件盔甲，但这位新骑士并没那么可怕，这让龙感觉好多了。
