It is observed that in the chemical plant neutral chloride solution, crevice corrosion of titanium is more likely to occur under the same conditions in the laboratory. Japanese researchers have designed a reproducible laboratory method that allows crevice corrosion of titanium in less severe conditions in order to determine the crevice corrosion properties of the metal and to find ways to prevent it.
