The Sept. 11 terrorist attacks that took place a year ago caused serious direct economic losses to the U.S. economy and made the U.S. economic recovery, which has slumped into recession, more sluggish. In the past year, the U.S. government conducted a series of policy adjustments to restore economic growth and revitalize the confidence of consumers and investors. However, from the current situation, the U.S. government has not achieved much success. The World Economic Outlook issued by the International Monetary Fund on September 25 has lowered its forecast of economic growth in the United States and believes that the U.S. economy will grow by 2.2% this year and will only reach 2.6% next year. The economic growth prospects of the other major economies in the world are also not optimistic, basically all lower than the previous forecast.
