江苏省是一个以平原为主的省份,在全国务省区中平原陆地的比率居首位,达到68％。而林木覆盖率却很低,约为8％。如何提高江苏的林木覆盖率,改善日益恶化的生态环境,实现中绿委提出的到本世纪末达到20％的目标,乃是摆在我们面前的严峻问题。 据有关资料表明,江苏省成片林业用地面积只有800万亩,全部绿化后林木覆盖率只能达到5％左右,社员家前屋后隙地的绿化面积,约占总面积的6％。这两项相加,林木覆盖率仅为11％左右,还有9％的覆盖率任务势必落到沟、渠、路、江、河、堤两侧
Jiangsu Province is a plains-dominated province, ranking the first place in the Central Plains of the Chinese provinces, reaching 68%. The forest coverage is very low, about 8%.
