In 1965 Klemola et al. First reported cytomegalovirus (CMV) mononucleosis. It is characterized by persistent fever, liver damage, and hematological changes similar to infectious Epstein-Barr virus caused by Epstein-Barr virus; often lacking in heterophile antibodies, occasionally exudative tonsillitis or cervical lymph nodes. The typical clinical manifestations of this disease common in adults, only a small number of childhood reports. Due to the different immune status of adults and children, children often show subclinical CMV infection. This article reports on the different clinical features of this disease in children and adults.
