On May 7, the 27 member nations of the EU and 6 invited EU member states’ neighboring countries in the east and the leaders of the former Soviet republics held a summit in Prague, the Czech capital, officially launching the “East Partnership” aimed at enhancing bilateral cooperation "plan. The estimated cost of 600 million euros planned to enhance cooperation between the EU and its neighbors in the east, to ensure the stability, security and prosperity of the EU’s eastern border, while strengthening the EU’s energy supply security. Although the attendance shows that the plan’s prospects for success are not clear, Russia remains highly vigilant and considers this plan to contain Russia as a substitute for NATO’s eastward expansion.
