Georgi Guria is an Abkhazian writer and painter of the Soviet Union, a fellow artist of the Republic of Georgia. In 1948, his novel “Sagan Spring” won a Stalin prize. Russian literary giant Tolstoy and Turgenev, the two due to different perspectives of literature and art, once cut off from the past seventeen years. On the day of August 18,887, the two of them reconvened and reconciled in the Chebbiri woods in Jasna-Polanor, the hometown of Tolstoy. This article made a vivid and delicate artistic expression of the historical facts of the meeting and emphasized that literature and art must be rooted in life and writers must be closely linked with the masses of the people. This article is translated from the “Literary Journal” of the Soviet Union on June 13, 1979, and was originally titled Chebeld-the Sacred Woods.
