Discrete Element Method (DEM) is a powerful method for numerical simulation of rockfalling. However, it is difficult to determine the discrete element input parameters. An inversion method based on the discrete element parameters of a known rockfall trajectory is proposed. The rockfall trajectory can be obtained through the field rockfall test or field field survey of the actual rockfalling process. The characteristic of this method is that the discrete element parameters obtained from inversion can indirectly reflect the deformation and the buffer effect of vegetation when the slope and rockfall impact. The effectiveness of several proposed solutions is verified, and the stability measures work well. Indoor rockfall test results and on-site rockfall project verification show that the algorithm is effective and practical.
