Enlarging the proportion of middle-income people and letting the people live a life of full-fledged prosperity is the objective of the Party’s 16th National Party. The middle-income group is a new term frequently used in recent years and specifically refers to social groups whose living standards and social status are at a medium level. Authoritative sources presume that the expansion of the middle-income group is positively related to the growth of GDP. Every percentage increase in GDP will increase the proportion of middle-income people by one percentage point. When the per capita GDP of the city reaches the 7500 US dollar level, it is expected that the proportion of middle-income people in Shanghai will reach more than 50%. Some people have sketched the image characteristics and lifestyle of middle-income people: Between the ages of 30-50, they are well-dressed, read a variety of beautifully printed magazines, are well educated and have a good job, and they drive or go out. “Playing” often appears in fashion venues such as golf courses, bowling alleys, bars, cafes, and various weekend parties.
