In Spinoza’s philosophy, the concept of “eternity” is mainly used at both the divine and the spiritual levels. This article attempts to argue that the concept of “eternal” is used at both levels not completely the same, because it is defined at the level of God as opposed to a time-stretching that God does not need, Nor can it be understood through the dimension of time; this concept, at the spiritual level, is defined as being compatible with the time, and the eternal need of the mind is to be understood through the dimension of time. While pointing out this difference, this article attempts to solve the dilemma that the concept of “eternal” contradicts with Spinoza’s “theory of parallel psychology” when it is applied to the mind.
