最近,我有缘细读了新近出版的《南通盆景》一书。对于通派盆景(即南通盆景)的艺术特色有了一个全新的认识:通派盆景实在是中国盆景艺苑中一支不可多得的奇葩。南通盆景最大的艺术特征是它的“两弯半”造型。“两弯半”造型给人的形象特征是:形体丰满(干粗枝壮片茂叶盛),气度轩昂(端庄大方、威严雄伟)、气势磅礴(犹如一只只神态威武的坐狮),结构严谨(疏密有致,错落有序)。这一形象特征带有强烈的主观意识:威严大方、温良恭俭让,然而它又显得十分自然,丝毫不牵强,扭曲。这一形象特征,使它比日本盆栽的正三角形造型显得更多姿多彩;比台湾的自然式造型显得更多滋多味。
