Integrated sensors are installed in vehicles, bridges and tunnel structures to monitor structural performance and fault signals prior to or with reduced safety. (3) Effective use of energy. An energy recovery system (such as flywheel energy storage) in an electrically driven diesel locomotive or other means of recovering braking energy provides an attractive prospect.
