曹荫之于1947年毕业于清华大学机械系,后留校任刘仙洲、钱伟长先生的助教。1949年9月调到鞍钢工作,参加了鞍钢检验室(钢研所前身)的复工筹建,建立了鞍钢第一个金相热处理试验室。在邵象华总工程师指导下,参加设计了5301～5315十五套优质钢锭模,完善了鞍钢第一炼钢厂浇铸系统。抗美援朝期间,从事军镐、炮弹钢的质量
Cao Yinzhi graduated from Mechanical Department of Tsinghua University in 1947 and stayed as an assistant to Liu Xianzhou and Qian Weichang. September 1949 was transferred to the Ansteel work, participated in the Anshan Iron and Steel Inspection Laboratory (Steel Research Institute predecessor) to resume construction, the establishment of the first Ansteel metallurgical heat treatment laboratory. Under the guidance of Chief Engineer Shao Xianghua, we participated in the design of 15 sets of high-quality ingot molds of 5301 ~ 5315 and perfected the first Ansteel steel-making plant casting system.
