INTRODUCTION In aeronautical environments, jet fuel may encounter a wide range of temperatures and pressures that can be ignited by the formation of a flammable vapor-air mixture as the ambient or internal heat source heats up. Other aviation flammable liquids such as engine oils, lubricants and hydraulic fluids, although they require a higher temperature when ignited than jet fuel, may also form a flammable vapor-air mixture. In order to assess their probability of catching fire in all kinds of real environments, it is essential to have knowledge of the fire performance of these combustions when exposed to various sources of heat. Although much has been reported about the knowledge of many flammable liquids in aviation, the data obtained is scattered across a large number of publications. Therefore, at the request of the Air Force, this book was prepared
