金属制成的复合材料或者新近的聚合物粘结剂以及作为研磨(切削)介质的金刚石粒的应用,正在迅速改变着磨削工具的未来,并已导致高性能研磨工具的发展。使用此类工具除了更为直接的优势如较高的使用寿命和较高的生产率之外,也更为有利于环境保护,而且与传统的磨料相比,对磨削来说金属粘结的和树脂粘结的金刚石磨具要经济得多,即使其生产成本高得多。证明这一点并不难。目前,加工过程经过优化之后,几乎只用金刚石磨具来完成全部磨削工作是有可能的。
