Tissue transglutaminase (tTG), an important member of the transglutaminase family, is a multifunctional calcium-dependent protease that is found in a wide range of tissues and cells in the body. tTG can catalyze the cross-linking reaction of protein glutamine residues and lysine residues, and is involved in various physiological and pathological processes in vivo, such as cell growth and differentiation, cell adhesion, cell apoptosis and signal transduction. In recent years, studies have found that tTG plays an important role in the development of primary open-angle glaucoma and scarring of filtration bleb after glaucoma filtration surgery.
