川藏线原来一直被称作“康藏公路”。“康”是原来的西康省,“藏”即西藏。当年和平进军西藏的原18军第52师曾编印过一本《进军康藏记实》,里面就有官兵修筑康藏公路的记载。后来两康并入四川,“康藏公路”始改称“川藏线”。
Sichuan-Tibet line has always been called “Kang-Tibet Highway.” “Kang” is the original Kham province, “Tibet” that is, Tibet. The 52nd Division of the 18th Army, which peacefully marched into Tibet at that time, had compiled a book entitled “Entering into the Khamsi Records,” in which officers and soldiers built the Kang-Tibet Highway. Later, two Kang merged into Sichuan, “Kang Road” was renamed “Sichuan-Tibet line.”
