有些场合下节制闸下游采用辐射形静水池是适宜的。这类静水池的边墙沿水流方向扩散,这样当出口有一个大的泄水区时就容许采用小宽度节制闸。此类结构,如W·代赛姆凯奥夫坝和分洪工程,现正在瓦莱赛勃,盎太列奥附近施工。这项工程将具有二孔宽24呎(7.3米)的闸孔,下游为扩散角等于4.76的静水池。这类结构典型设计是使其在予计最不利的运行条件下静水池内仍将形成自由水跃。但在大多数水流和运行条件下静水池内将呈现淹没水跃。
Under some circumstances, the use of radiation-shaped hydrostatic pools downstream of the floodgate is appropriate. However, submerged jets will appear within the hydrostatic pool under most current and operating conditions.
