IODP 357 voyage, originating from Recommendation No. 758, addresses two of the most up-to-date new discoveries of mid-oceanic ridges: the serpentine-dominant hydrothermal activity deviating from the central axis of the ridge, such as the lost city hydrothermal zone, The altered and exposed serpentinite ultrabasic rocks and lithosphere formed during the magmatism constitute slow and super-slow expansion ridges.
