This article discusses the formation of Emily Bronte’s paradoxical religious view and its manifestation in her masterpiece Wuthering Heights. On the one hand, the background of the Christian family and Emily’s own pessimistic outlook on human nature prompted her to turn to religious beliefs and seek spiritual comfort. On the other hand, Emily’s innate rebellious personality and dissatisfaction with the Christian status quo in the real world forced her into a rebellious “Satan.” In her unique novel “Wuthering Heights,” one can easily spot a mixture of these two relative religions.
