Story begins - Sedimentary desert salt Farida has a master’s degree in film arts, before doing a lot of short films in India, “my name is salt” is her first feature film. When she first saw the report of the Desert Saltworks in 2005, she decided to film the subject. The saltworks were shot in the Kuchlak state of western India in two deserts, 5,000 square kilometers in size and one on the Pakistani border, the westernmost point of India, not far from the coastline. During the monsoon season, water flooded the desert, so salt harvesting took place in the eight months of the dry season, from the end of September to early May of the next year.
