Both Jane Austen and Charlotte Bronte are women writers in the history of modern British literature. The former works quite well, while the latter is handed down by a “Jane Eyre”. What they all have in common is that they represent the “Enlightenment of Women” in modern British literature and influence the choice of many well-known female writers such as Virginia Woolf in later generations. This paper attempts to start from their works, by studying the words of the characters to express their personality, quality revealed. Through the deep analysis of the representative figures in the works, this paper expounds the characteristics of these two writers’ social realistic style and awakening of female consciousness.
