近几年来对青海以全吉群为代表的震旦纪地层是否有冰碛层存在、有几期等问题争论颇大。为解决这一问题,我所于今年七月邀请中国科学院地质研究所刘鸿允、劳秋元及全国震旦系协调小组阎立勋、陆宗斌等四同志,前赴现场会诊。同时参与工作的尚有青海省地质局第一区测队、第五地质队及青海省冶金地质勘探公司地质五队等单位。通过现场研究否定了全吉群第一、第二岩组底部二个可疑冰碛层,认为它们分属于山前扁砾岩,海陆交替相以河流相为主的砾岩,而肯定了全吉群第六岩组的泥砾岩为冰碛层,命名为“红铁沟冰碛层”。这对我省震旦系的划分、对比,其地质意大是不容忽视的。

Through on-site research, the two suspicious glacial morale layers at the bottom of the first and second rocks of the Quanji Group were denied, which are considered as belonging to the piedmont conglomerate. The sea-land alternates facies mainly of river facies, The conglomerate of the sixth member of the group is a glacial moraine layer, named “red trenches moraine layer.” This division of the Sinian in our province, compared to its geological meaning can not be ignored.
