酷 英文Cool的汉语音译。Cool本来是冷的意思,60年代开始成为美国青少年的街头流行语,初期指一种冷峻的、反主流的行为或态度,后来泛指能够让懂得使用“Cool”这个词的的人来赞美的一切人和事物。《韦伯斯特大辞典》释为:very good;excellent;fashionable。

Initially, it was a grim, anti-mainstream act or attitude.
