The world’s major countries and international agencies have two different estimates of the prospects for economic development in the Asia-Pacific region: one is optimistic and believes that next year will be a good year; the other is more pessimistic and will not be a good year. Judging from the overall situation, the economic situation in Asia Pacific in 1987 can be said to be better than 1986 and better than any other region, especially some developing countries and regions in the Asia-Pacific region.
