我国音乐教育的历史可谓久远,当时音乐并不仅仅指今天意义上的乐器和歌唱,而是集歌舞乐一体的艺术形式。古人认为音乐具有巨大的社会功能可“致鬼神、和邦国、谐万民、安宾客、说远人、作(感动)百物”;《尚书》之《尧典》就记录了舜帝要求乐官夔用音乐教育胄子,使他们的性情正直而温和。孔子十分重视音乐在政治和教育中的作用,认为诗、礼、乐是培养道德情感的重要措施,正所谓“兴于诗,立于礼,成于乐”。在这种思想的驱动下,音乐在社会发展和教育领域发挥了重要的作用。
