The authors studied the effect of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) on prostaglandins in the stomach and duodenal mucosa of patients with active rheumatoid arthritis. NSAIDs were not used before the study, gastroscopy stomach normal. Initial study found that taking Naproxen 1000mg daily, gastric and duodenal prostaglandin E_2 were inhibited after 4 weeks.
