John Cheever is a famous postmodern short story writer in the United States. His novels are profound in moral meaning and reflect many social problems. Therefore, they have received the same attention from readers. One of the favorite works by readers and commentators is Giant Radio, which truly reflects the living conditions of the middle-class middle-class Americans after the war. In the novel “The Giant Radios”, the author captures the obsession with a tapping-enabled radio by describing the heroine Eileen, and makes us feel the loss of social morals in the ever-evolving science and technology. The following discussion explores the writing style of the Giant Radio from two perspectives so that we can understand the novel in more depth.
