Measurement systems have been developed that directly and continuously detect hydrogen in molten aluminum and its alloys. The new system consists of a highly thermally stable probe and a miniature data processing computer. The successful development of the system has led to new developments in the study of the mechanisms of hydrogen dissolution and removal, making it possible to perform routine techniques for the quality of metals and alloys during the melt-casting process. This system has now been used to detect the hydrogen content of molten aluminum and its alloys in furnaces or launders for two consecutive hours directly.
