1987年,仅距“柳微”生产微型汽车的第七个年头,《人民日报》记者李克夫在《人民日报》以《艰难,但有希望的路》为题,报道了柳州微型汽车厂推进国产化的纪实。光阴荏苒,转瞬又是一个七年。这14年间,柳州微型汽车厂走的是一条艰难,但有希望的路;一条成功,且更辉煌的路。辉煌属于五菱五菱汽车从她诞生的那一天起便闪烁着夺目的光彩。1982年元月,孕育着五菱人智慧与汗水的第一辆五菱牌微型汽车坠地,结束了中国不能生产微型汽车的历史,填补了国内汽车工业一大空白。十多年过去了,五菱人发扬“艰苦创业、自强不息”的企业精神,克服了种种难以想象的困难,硬是把一个仅有5000万固定资产的拖拉机厂改造发展
