The Discovery space shuttle will perform six microgravity experiments in space for the first time since the “Spaceman Challenger” space shuttle shut down in January 1986. Researchers will be engaged in experiments on crystal growth and protein separation on the space shuttle. In one of these experiments, astronauts carefully squeezed a protein solution out of the syringe and allowed a single drop of solution to float on the needle tip to balance.
