Temin HM was born on December 10, 1934, in the family of a Jewish lawyer. His grandfather immigrated to the United States from the Soviet Union just after the October Revolution when his father was six years old. He commented that I was fortunate, otherwise I would inevitably be sent to a concentration camp in Nazi Germany during World War II, and it would be better to teach in a rural secondary school. Temin’s mother is very friendly and kind, but her children are very strict in her studies. She kept a letter from her school teacher to her and said: “Your son will surely become a good scientist in the future.” “After she learned that her son won the Nobel Prize, people asked her what she was saying Said: ”I’m happy, but not surprised."
