In the centuries before the 16th century, the import of bulk precious metals, mainly gold and silver, was the most crucial part of India’s conventional land and sea trade. In general, precious metals in Asia are mainly derived from West Asia, and a significant portion of the precious metals in West Asia are obtained from the southern and eastern parts of Europe via the Levant’s trade route. However, not all of India’s precious metals come from West Asia. Yemen and Persia also provide a large amount of gold and silver into the coastal areas of western India. One of the major receiving ports is the port of Cambay (later replaced by the port of Surat), Port of Calicut. Although according to what we can get now
