International Cooperation The Tibetan Plateau and Himalayan Deep Profile Exploration (INDEPTH) program has successfully completed the three phases of Ⅰ, Ⅱ and Ⅲ since its launch in 1992. It reveals the crustal structure and deep structure in the hinterland of the Himalayas and the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. In the international core The journal publishes more than 10 influential scholarly papers and is highly praised by the international geoscience community. The fourth phase plan is to study the structure and evolution of the northern margin of the plateau, namely the East Kunlun orogenic belt and the Qaidam basin, in contrast with the southern Himalayan orogenic belt. After many field geological reconnaissance and selected sections of the working route, in 2007 all parties formally signed an agreement and jointly conducted a field survey to successfully complete the crossing of the East Kunlun Mountains and the Qaidam Basin, 100km vertical deep-reflection earthquake, 300 km wide-angle seismic reflection and field observation of 59 wide-band natural seismic stations. The Chinese team also determined in the eastern part of Eastern Kunlun that the Late Oligocene-Early Miocene thrust system was large and evidence of the uplifting of the entire Qinghai-Tibet Plateau from the Late Oligocene to the Early Miocene was found. In 2008, the natural seismological observation will continue, and the earth’s electromagnetic sounding, gravitational and geological tectonic profiling and seismic reflection data processing will also be carried out. From 2009 to 2010, various types of deep exploration data will be used to comprehensively study the crustal structure and rock in the northern part of the Qinghai- Circle construction and deep processes.
