After 30 years of hard work, the meteorological system of the National Defense Science and Industry Commission has gradually improved the capability of national defense scientific research meteorological support and ensured the success rate of 100%, effectively ensuring the successful completion of various types of weapons testing and satellite launching test missions. Through the efforts of meteorologists from generation to generation, a complete set of strict working system has been formed for the protection of scientific research meteorology in our country from the observation on the ground, the collection of intelligence information, the publication of forecasts, the archiving of data, and so on. The institutionalization of the work order and the standardization of the trial order have been initially achieved. Ordinary life order, equipment management is normalized. In response to the characteristics of national defense scientific research and testing tasks, the meteorological departments at all levels of the National Defense Commission of Science and Technology of China actively explore the mode of meteorological support under high and new technology conditions and strengthen the research on meteorological scientific research and technology equipment. During the “Eighth Five-Year Plan” period, more than 500 scientific research achievements such as lightning monitoring and early warning system, navigation and wind measurement system, humidity standard equipment, wind tower supporting equipment and ball-less wind measurement radar have been developed. Some of them have achieved remarkable benefits. For example, the successful development of lightning monitoring and warning system, the end of China’s satellite launch site lightning monitoring and atmospheric electricity
