The objective of the Olympic Movement is to create a better and more peaceful world through physical activity to enhance human dignity in the spirit of friendship, solidarity and fairness. However, since the Olympics in Antwerp in Belgium in 1920, the modern Olympics have not been able to completely get rid of the shadow of politicization, but also have endless conflicts between races, religions and beliefs. Especially since the 1960s, the Olympic Games have been seriously threatened by “cancer” and terrorism by modern civilizations. On August 26, 1972, when the 20th Olympic Games opened in Munich, Germany, the tenth and pre-planned terrorist attack together completely shattered this “grand gathering of peace and joy.” Regardless of the political factors, this article sets out from the two perspectives of the light weapons in this incident and the lessons learned from the incident, elaborates the facts, analyzes the cause and effect, keeps history in mind, and takes history as a mirror.
