Objective To analyze the food intake of Chinese elderly people aged 65 and above. Methods Data were collected from the questionnaire on dietary frequency in Chinese residents’ nutrition and health monitoring project from 2010 to 2012. A multistage stratified population-based cluster random sampling method was used to sample 8205 elderly residents aged 65 and above in 150 monitoring stations in 31 provinces in mainland China, and their intake of egg foods was calculated , The rate of consumption and the proportion of people who meet the recommended dietary guidelines in China. Results The egg consumption of 25 years old and above aged 65 years old and above in China was 25.7 g / d (P25 9.2 g / d, P50 25.7 g / d, P75 50.4 g / d) in 2010-2012. , Poor rural areas were 36.9 ~ 50.0, 21.4 ~ 28.6, 14.3 ~ 21.4 and 17.1 ~ 21.4 g / d respectively. The consumption rate of egg food was 93.5%. The average consumption rate of 93.5% -96.8%, 87.6% -95.2%, 91.5% -96.0% and 85.5% -94.9% in big cities, small and medium-sized cities, ordinary rural areas and poor rural areas respectively. The proportion of population aged 65 and over who had reached the dietary guidelines recommended in China was 35.5%. The proportions of people in big cities, middle and small cities, ordinary rural areas and poor rural areas were 49.1% -58.7% and 29.4% -37.9% respectively, 18.5% ~ 31.0% and 26.4% ~ 31.3%. Conclusions The consumption of eggs by Chinese residents aged 65 and over is high, but their intake is not enough. There is still a long way to go before the dietary guidelines for Chinese eggs are given.
