丰润机务段是蒸汽机车架修段。1985年12月开始使用SS1型电力机车。由于该段电化过渡的准备时间较短,开通初期没有配备不落轮旋床设备。当轮缘磨耗到限需要旋削轮对踏面时,往往造成运用机车紧张。为解决这一问题,该段挖掘现有设备潜力,使用蒸汽机车架修的C8018型动轮车床,旋削电力机车轮对踏面。采用不拆牵引电机抱轴瓦,不拆齿轮箱,带电机旋轮的方法,简化了作业程序。在与蒸汽机车架修交叉使用机床的情况下,将电力机车的解体、旋轮、组装的停时压缩到两天,较全部解体旋轮时间缩短三分之一以上。自1986年4月起至1987年9月止,共旋轮58台次,节约机车87台日,
