After a detailed introduction of millimeter-wave technology was published in our issue, Issue 2, 1979, pp. 271-27, the International Defense Review is now closely watching its perhaps perhaps the most important application, missile guidance. In this article, the author introduces the progress made by the U.S. Air Force in this area and details the millimeter-wave contrast guidance demonstration program. The program is now evaluating millimeter-wave radars (operating in the 30-40 or 90-100 gigahertz band) for guided long-range all-weather, anti-tank missiles in Europe.
