When widely deployed and IP-level multicast is deployed on a large scale, the multicast status will exceed the performance limit of the router. In order to solve the state scalability problem of multicast routing, an extensible multicast routing protocol (DTSM) based on dynamic tunnel is proposed. The protocol uses tunneling to eliminate the status of non-branch nodes. When the state capacity is sufficient, this protocol is the same as the traditional multicast protocol. When the state capacity is insufficient, the forwarding tree topology is adaptively adjusted to further reduce the multicast status at the expense of bandwidth and delay. Simulation results show that the proposed protocol can reduce the maximum number of multicast states an order of magnitude without significantly increasing the bandwidth and delay, and can effectively mitigate the multicast state pressure.
