苯甲酸钠咖啡因含时测定法是分别测定其中的咖啡因与苯甲酸钠。在中国药典以及英国、日本等药典,那是采用以一份检品,先在碱性溶液小,用氯仿提取咖啡因,再将氯仿提取液分层后的余留水溶液,以0.1N 碱酸来滴定苯甲酸钠,并以乙醚来溶解中和作用后所生成的苯甲酸。我们在苯甲酸钠咖啡因的含量测定方法上曾作了一点很小的改进,即在测定苯甲酸钠的含量时,不采用提取了咖啡因后分层余留的水溶液,而是直接依照中国药典苯甲酸钠的含量测定方法来测定苯甲酸钠之量.这样操作的结果,常此自提取了咖啡因后的水溶液中来测定苯甲酸钠为准确并稍高约0.2%左右。道是由于苯甲酸钠咖啡因经过氯仿三次以上的提取及分层操作过程后,使水溶液中的苯甲酸钠有一些损失的缘故。其次,我们对苯甲酸钠含量测定方法亦作了一些改进:秤取苯甲酸钠咖啡因溶于水中,加乙醚,以0.1N 盐酸滴定,这样检验速度可提高不少。因为从前是一定要等待提完了咖啡因之后,才能测定苯甲酸钠,这样在检验的时间上就拖长了。
