Determination of the total amount of rare earths in iron ores, especially those with high RE content (> 1%), is still superior to other methods by chemical analysis. The chemical analysis method is generally based on the oxalate gravimetric method in hydrochloric acid medium and is widely used in the production practice. In accordance with the Minutes of the Symposium on Revision of the “Iron Ore Chemical Analysis” Symposium held in Baotou in August 1974, the oxalate gravimetric method should be determined as a drafting solution for the determination of high-content rare earths in iron ores.
